Happy Chinese New Year!

Kindergarten enjoyed a fun and noisy afternoon on Friday when we rang in the Chinese New Year. Mrs. Strong, Mrs. Davis, and our class paraded up and down the first floor in our dragons. We also had dancers, drummers, bell ringers and more along for the ride.

We created our dragon head together with paper mache, paint, and lots of glitter! The students also decorated the classroom with hand painted paper lanterns and dragon puppets.

After the parade, the students were treated to orange slices, cookies, and juice.

We had fun looking at China on our website map. We had three visitors from China this week which made it even more fun to celebrate!

Besides just having a lot of fun, celebrating Chinese New Year, helps the students explore geography and get a better understanding of the difference between town, state, and country.

We'll continue to discuss China throughout the year since the Summer Olympics are in Beijing. We'll also study other countries around the globe as well.
